In my Kindred Spirits yarn club, you receive a surprise skein of yarn every other month in my signature dye style: a tonal watercolor shade (sometimes gentle, sometimes deeply saturated), lightly peppered with delicate speckles. It's a skein to fall in love with, a skein to inspire you, and most of all, a skein with which to create something beautiful. What will you make?
Socks. Some of my favorite sock patterns are the Pebbles & Pathways and Intersections socks by designer Marceline Smith (Hey Brownberry), which are perfect for my style of gentle colors and gentle speckles.
Fingerless mitts. My favorite pattern for mitts is Crisp Apple Strudel, which I co-published with designer Katy Carroll. Hold your yarn doubled to get the required gauge.
One-skein scarf or shawlette. The Sun & Fog Winter 2021 collection has nine beautiful single skein projects.
A pop of color. A color that is outside your usual comfort zone is perfect to use as an accent in colorwork or in a multicolor shawl. Designer Stephen West has a host of shawl patterns where an unexpected color will make a set of neutral colors pop and sparkle.
Save your single skein. When you have three coordinating colorways, make a larger shawl. Some of my favorite three-skein shawls are Afternoon Tea and Beloved by designer Tyne Swedish.
